Baric inducted into National Academy of Sciences

In April 2021, Distinguished Professor Ralph Baric, PhD, was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences in recognition of his visionary research on some of the world’s most infectious viruses. His scientific discoveries made a significant impact on the COVID-19 pandemic by identifying antivirals to fight COVID-19 and collaborating with the National Institutes of Health to test vaccine candidates. Induction into the National Academy of Sciences is one of the highest distinctions for a scientist or engineer in the U.S.
